About the project
In this project, the participating students have to face a challenge involving the use of new technologies in the field of Eletromechanics, Power systemes Electronics, Information and Communications Technology and Computing (IoT) to solve real-life problems. Students will work in teams to implement a functional system that must provide the solution to an environmental or social problem that the students have detected. The learning objectives are specific to the curricula of the specializations of the Faculty of Engineering – CUNBM.
PROJECT STAGES
Virtual component
3 webinars through which online training is realized for students who will learn examples and fundamentals related to the curricular objectives but will also gain extracurricular knowledge on energy efficiency and web platforms in PV systems monitoring.
Online student communication and interaction component
Students will be communicating using online platforms (Teams, Discord, Whatapp, etc) to form teams and design systems in projects.
Component with physical presence
Fall camp organized in October in Baia Mare, for 7 days, each student team will implement a prototype system. The students will receive all the components and access to the specified platforms for the realization of the prototype systems and will be supported in their realization by the teachers involved in the project.
PROJECT STAGES
Stage 1: Octomber 2024
Teachers from the partner universities present the objectives, the consortium and the project activities to the students in an online meeting (Teams). Partner teachers in the project collaborate (Teams , email, etc.) to prepare and share teaching materials to be used in the virtual component (videos, examples of systems, examples of code, documentation, useful web links, etc.). The project web page and promotional materials for students accessible to all partners will be developed.
Students who wish to participate in the component with physical presence – fall camp will send a cover letter with an idea or proposal of a project that can be realized during the fall camp. The students will communicate with each other in formed teams which should be composed of maximum 4 students, belonging to at least two different partner universities. Professors from each university will pre-select potential candidates.
Each partner university in the consortium will be able to set rules to select its own students, for example the most interesting project themes proposed by them, but also the backgrounds of the students can be taken into account.
Stage 2: November-December 2024 at Technical University Cluj Napoca
The autumn camp will be organized in Baia Mare by UTCN (the coordinating institution of the BIP project) in November-December 2024 (depending on the availability of teachers and students from partner universities). The duration of the fall camp will be about 7 days and the exact period will be agreed with the project partners.
The project proposals of the short-listed candidates will be distributed among the partner universities and should contain contact details to enable students to contact/communicate directly with each other. From the list of project themes each group of students will choose the project theme which will be initialized during the fall camp and will continue to be finalized through online meetings.
By the end of the fall camp, the student teams must submit to the Erasmus BIP project teachers a list of electronic components needed to be purchased for the realization of the projects. An online meeting of the teachers will be organized to discuss and endorse the proposals for the necessary purchases needed by the students, in order not to exceed the budget allocated to the project. Existing equipment in the laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering will be generally used.
All students and teachers attending the fall camp can participate in a social program that includes a guided tour of the city, a bus trip to Barsana Monastery or other tourist attractions, visits to companies based in Maramures county (Eaton, ElectroSistem, UAC, etc).
Partners who intend to send their students to the autumn camp organized by UTCN in Baia Mare for a short term Erasmus mobility will have to make sure, in consultation with the Erasmus Office of their own university, that the students they recruit can be guaranteed Erasmus financial resources for the trip to Romania.
Stage 3: January–Aprill 2024, Virtual component Webinars – online meeting
Each Webinar will last 1.5 – 2 hours of online presentation in Teams including practical sessions, and will be recorded and available on the project website. Webinars can be organized in a hybrid format: an online teacher and a guest teacher present or online only. Three hybrid/online sessions are planned.
At this stage, students will develop the project proposals chosen during the fall camp, upload into the Teams group created for the project, the materials needed to finalize the assignment and present it at the final award stage.
The teaching materials used for the webinars will be collaboratively developed by the professors of the partner universities within the project.
ERASMUS+ teaching staff mobility between partners may be foreseen for the organization of these webinars.
Stage 4 : May-June 2025 Virtual component – project awards
The awarding of the projects will take place online in Teams, each group will present in ppt and/or video the finalized project.
Student projects will be judged and 3 prizes will be awarded. The winning team will record a video presentation of the realized project, it will be published on the project website, UTCN website and on the official social networks of the partner universities.
Partners
from 7 universities:
Benefits for students:
- developing skills in photovoltaic system design, computer programming, etc.
- developing the ability to work in a team, identifying individual and joint roles and responsibilities, decision making and task allocation, efficient use of communication resources
- participation in a competition to reward the best team projects.
- 3 credits added to the diploma supplement: UTCN will certify student attendance at the fall camp with 25 hours of activity with physical participation and 5 hours of activity with virtual/online participation.
- Intelcultural exchange, socializing with students from other partner countriespartenere
Benefits for partner universities:
- internationalization: the project facilitates international collaboration between partner universities (teachers and students) and intensifies collaboration between partner universities.
- Inter-university collaboration: realization of scientific papers jointly elaborated by the partners on the development and results of the project, possibility to apply for new projects with Erasmus funding or from other sources Dissemination: information about the project, activities and results will be published on the project web page. These results and various announcements for the promotion of the BIP project among students will also be accessible on social networks.
- teaching materials realized within the project: they will be useful for future generations as examples of practical applications in laboratories laboratoare.
